Don't have a kiln — but don't need a full studio either? Ceramic Souls' Patsy Kiln Firing membership plan was built for exactly that.
Patsy Kiln is our standalone cone 6 kiln for independent artists who create off-site and need a kiln firing program they can rely on. Bring your bone-dry, properly prepped pieces to our dedicated drop-off area during studio hours, submit each piece through our online portal, and we'll take it from there.
Before your first drop-off, you'll complete a quick one-time orientation to get familiar with our systems and prep standards. After that, it's straightforward: drop off, submit through the portal, get notified, pick up within 3 days.
No studio access, no equipment rental, no long-term commitment — just reliable kiln access when you need it.

What's included with the Patsy Kiln Firing plan?
Patsy Kiln is our standalone cone 6 kiln for independent artists who create off-site and need a firing program they can rely on. Note: this plan does not include access to our Ceramic Souls studio, equipment, storage, or other noted Ceramic Souls member benefits. Glaze access can be purchased for an additional fee.
What type of clay can I fire?
Our kilns and firing programs are calibrated specifically for mid-range clay. We fire cone 06 bisque and cone 6 glaze. No low or high-fire clay should be submitted for firing. You take responsibility for any damage to the kiln, kiln shelves or any other individuals pieces.
How much does it cost?
Firing is priced by cubic inch, rounded to the 1/2":

Bisque firing: $0.02/cubic inch (minimum charge of $2/piece)

Glaze firing: $0.05/cubic inch (minimum charge of $2/piece)

$10 monthly administrative fee: covers scheduling, kiln loading, and the hands-on management each firing cycle requires.

Can I glaze at the studio and use the studio's glazes?
The Patsy Kiln Firing plan does not include access to our studio space, equipment, storage, or other noted Ceramic Souls member benefits. However, you can use our full set of 15 studio glazes for an additional $30/month.
How long will it take for my pieces to fire?
Pieces will be available for pickup within 1-2 weeks from dropping off.
Pieces can be dropped off and picked up during Wedged Ceramics Supply standard hours and Ceramic Souls evening class times. Note: these are subject to change:

Monday, Wednesday & Thursday: 11am – 8pm

Friday & Saturday: 10am – 4pm

Sunday: 12pm – 4pm
Pieces must be picked up within 3 days of pickup notification, unless otherwise requested/arranged with the studio manager.
If pieces are not picked up within the allotted time frame and no accommodation has been agreed upon, they will be moved to our Last Chance Rack and/or donated to our Little Free Art Gallery.
Will my pieces be safe?
Firing is a variable process — even well-prepared pieces can have unexpected results, and we appreciate your understanding of that going in. Ceramic Souls is not responsible for breakage, glaze defects, or other outcomes inherent to the ceramic process.
Rest assured that our kilns are located in a staff-only area of our studio studio, and are operated by our experienced studio manager and trained assistants.
Can I cancel my plan?
Yes, you can cancel your plan at anytime by sending an email to howdy@ceramicsouls.com. Your plan will be cancelled immediately. If you cancel prior to the last day of the month you will not be billed the $10/monthly administrative fee for the following month.
No refunds will be given for cancellations that take place after the monthly fee has been charged.
